I'll have you know that farts in elevators are in fact very funny. Tam |

mfhor@yahoo.co.uk wrote: > Don't you want to CHANGE the law, if it's stopping you 'doing what you > will, yet harming none?' > > Sheesh, can we cringe any more into our corner? Breaking the law is not an effective way to change it. You need a strong campaign to show it is being broken a lot and either needs enforcement, or change. The noise being made by some motorists is saying "Enforce it". Your voice for change is not registering where it matters, and I'm still not sure, after this long discussion, what you are proposing by way of change. donga |

That's just silly. It's patently obvious that red light running pisses off non-cyclists. Does that help us? > Tell me how you'd handle the situation. I have. If you persist until you have the right person and keep (politely & positively) following it up until it is fixed, it will get fixed. Go up the food chain as required. Nah - already grey & withered & don't have a mobile phone. <snip> > The sensor is right at the boundary of the lights. > For a start it should be set back some 20 odd metres to realise a bike > is approaching the lights..... <snip> Sure, like in Europe. I agree that would be useful, but you'll need to wait for the 2nd generation of bike facilities. We are in the early days and stuff is as crude as all get out. But if we keep working away, it will improve to European standards eventually - that's my aim, anyway. You ain't going to get an engineer in Melbourne to agree to put in advance sensors on a minor path like that at present. When it's done for the first time, it'll be on a bicycle freeway that's given top priority. That's still some way off, there needs to be more shifts in thinking before that happens. But it will. > > The situation described is a 3m wide off road bike path - a virtual > freeway for bikes - yet it still has the stupid press and wait lights to > control the little bike symbol. Guess wires under path to button attached to holding rail on left is the answer - like the ones by Albert Park? > > Ray Anyway, what I'm saying is no amount of grousing ever improved bike facilties. Well, set a good example, there's a good little Babylonian Speaking of questionable erudition, people from Babylon were Babylonians, people from Persia were Persians. Not the same, dearie. Guess you trolls have a roster and you're this month's? Personally, I found harbinger more amusing. You're just sad. Persia |

If you have a problem with a traffic light in Perth, the number to call is on the control box together with the ID number for the traffic light set. I complained about a set of lights once and they couldn't fault them, so contacted me to meet them there to explain the problem I had. Good people! Real Public Servants. Theo |
