Default MTB Criterium Westgate every Thursday night??

MTB criterium at Westgate park every Thurday night 6:30pm?

I heard that there are short circuit MTB races held @ Westgate park (under the Westgate bridge, Melb side, near the Go-cart track) every Thursday night 6:30pm onwards.

Is this right. Anyone know more about it? I'm heading down to check it out after work tonight, see how I go.

...still a mystery. Rain put me off the ride down last night.

Rode down for a look-see last night after work. Didn’t seem to be a big turnout from looking at the car park, but the start area was off down one side behind some trees, tent & spot lights & heaps of MTBs. At 6:30pm Melbourne in June it was dark (and cold). I think there were about 25 starters, 3 classes ( A,B,& C). Most riders ran those 5watt + spotties either on their bikes or on their helmets (some both). Kinda need that sort of lighting really, that set-up would come in about $95Aus+.

I didn’t get a chance to check out the whole course but riders coming around for another lap didn’t seem to raggered. From what I saw it wasn’t too full on, I don’t think there were any spots where you had to loft the bike & walk it through. The course does vary every Thursday night,. last night it took in riding a train line (over the sleepers).

As for me, well I might get out there Saturday to check out the course in daylight & might get some lights & rock up next Thursday for a stab. Looks like too much fun to miss out on.

I hope it's not raining next Thursday. I commute to work & back so I'll be running semislicks.

Semislicks + rain and mud = "elephant on iceskates" handling

dude, you gotta take the opportunaty to ride the course they have there. Sure they change every week, but I was able to pick up the fresh tracks from last Thrusday night.
I got down there Sunday am & had a hard time with some of the technical bits. Little whoop-de-dos & some tight stuff was a real *****. Dismounted & walked (ran) through it some of it. Don't know how they got around some of the corners amoung the trees without getting off & lifting the bike through. But I gotta admit my techincal skill in this sort of offroad isn't too sharp, thats why I wanna take a crack at these events, bring myself up to speed...
still, its all rock 'n' roll.

I run Ritchey Riser 'bars & looking at reverting to the narrower std 'bars to make some of the tight stuff....
