Default Broke my Bike

Bought a KHS Flite 250 (see picture) about 12 months ago and really enjoy riding it.

I was riding along a main road near home (Werribee) and the frame where the bottom of the Seat stem is broke off. Came crashig down still clipped in! Thankfully all the cars missed me!!!

Anyway now I'm without a bike for xmas as the frame has to go to the USA for assessment and I was planning to do Amys ride in Geelong on the 7th Jan. Hope I can borrow a bike off a mate.

Well the bright side is maybe I will get a new Bike, if warranty is honured.

Good luck getting a replacement... did you try for loaner while the bikes away... email the manufacturer a link to this forum and tell them the members here are most interested in the outcome of the issue.

I stuck with my first road bike until a chain stay broke - just forward of the rear dropout - I knew at that point that the diet wasn't working. I didn't follow it up, I'd ridden it for years and was well overdue for an upgrade... I wonder if I could use that excuse on the wife again.... "Remember how lucky I was not to get hurt the last time I hung on to a bike for too long".

Thought about a loaner, however the LBS was closed for xmas and new year. Anyway I bought a giant crx off a mate.

I will email a link to the mfg and keep the forum informed about the outcome!!!.

KHS came up with a replacement bike. The frame and running gear (tiagra) is much better than on my original bike!

I am very pleased with the response from KHS, especially Xmas and New year period in Australia and I will be sending an email to tell them so.

Talking Re: Broke my Bike

Glad to see that they did the right thing by you. Right before Xmas, I purchased a bike for my wife, a Cedona CX. The guy we spoke to was rude, told my wife the seat would not be big enough for her (your to fat). The whole drive home was full of tears and insurmountable tension. I went back the next day and gave them an absolute pasting. In the end I still purchased from the shop because I get on very well with one of the staff there. The idiot from the day before had said that from her lok on the bike we looked at that a14" frame would be right. Turns out it was heaps to small and my wife just could not ride it without endangering herself.

I took it back and they replaced it with the 19" frame no charge. I think they realised how much worse that could have been had we been the types to complain to the discrimination commission or consumer affairs. But good on them for doing what they could to rectify the blunder. I even got a follow up when I recently had my bike serviced asking how my wife was going was everything to her satisfaction. Good to see customer service is not completely dead.
