I don't wanna sounds like a hero, and maybe this is because we don't really have hills, but I never even knew there was such a thing as a triple on a road bike until I got onto Bike Forums.

3 y.o. nephew while driving with him says "****". How do you know that word we say? "Nanny says it" he says. We ask when does she say that. "In the car" he says. What does she say we ask. He says "**** Laurie (his Pop), slow down !"

Kids are like parrots, they recall so much of what you say it's insane. Clever little *****.

That's because Melbourne is the flattest city in the world. If you lived in Colorado, you'd probably have put a set of mtb cranks on there just so you can ride.

Good news today, Howard's 'Offshore processing of Assylum seekers' bill looks like it has sunk in both houses meaning it's not going to pass. hoo-farken-ray for that. 4 Liberals crossed the floor, showing that Pollies can actually have moral fortitude afterall.

The boombahs that live in Denver and Colorado Springs would just stick to the flats out to the east of the mountains, but they'd still want a triple because of the altitude :roflmao:

Good news on the refugee bill. The poor buggers will still get to live at Butlins SA while they're being processed won't they?

Yeah, I don't think it changes the onshore processing centres, but at least some people still have a conscience in politics, which is at least a glimmer of hope.

Everyone should just vote for Bob Brown next election. I mean, nobody wants Beazley in office, and Howard still thinks it's 1955...even if you're not a fan of the Greens, seriously what's the worst that could happen?

Seriously. Tell me why everyone shouldn't vote Greens next election?

Because your vote will go to the first major party on your ballot. Seriously prefential voting is worst thing in this country. It just entrenches the two major parties.

Your vote will go where YOU direct your preferences unless you choose to be be a sheep and vote by using the easy method of above the line voting for the Senate or follow the how-to-vote card of a major party for the House of Reps.

Of course, if your House of Reps choices only have say Greens plus the 2 major parties, then you are stuffed.

I love the preferencial system. You vote Green to absolutely avoid voting for the mangy Liberal scum and because voting Labor isn't much of a protest vote. Then you find out that you vote went to the Liberal scum (against your wishes and best intentions) in the second round of preference distribution. That's what I call a "fair system".

But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. Our economy is so small we might as well take up Keating's advice and start growing bananas. I hear they're worth up to $12kg retail ATM. That's a bloody good earner.

Preferences are distributed according to the numbers marked on the voting card, therefore, unless you put the mangy Liberal scum high up in your preferences, your vote will not be distributed any other way (it is only in the most tightly contested seats that they would need to count '3s' and '4s') The problem is when people follow the how-to-vote cards and blindly assign their preferences accordingly. That is how the preference deals work, it has all to do with putting the other guy in the number 2 postion on your card and getting the sheep to follow that card, so that in the second round of preference distribution, your vote will go to him and vice versa.

agreed. whats worse is that the 2 parties are just mirror images of each other these days. gone are the days of true differences between labor and liberal

However, they get federal funding based on the number of votes they get. So a vote for Greens now will help them campaign the next time around.

If you are so against the vote going to the first major party, who do you vote for ?
