Ordering should be easy though, 'I'll have number 24 - chop chop'. I'm sure I was a senior manager with the East India Company in a past life. |

*sob*....Subi is dying *sob*...me mate the mechanic is making noises about doing the 'timing chain', (whatever the fark that is!)....reckons $600 + & he still hasn't been able to solve my 'intermittant electrical' fault...bastard won't do it when I take it to him! GRRRRR....& it will need new discs & tyres within 6 mths ....so I reckon seeing as it's got 250,000 km on the clock, spending serious money on it aint an option....so off to harrass some poor innocent car dealer tomorrow!.....hmm, will I get another subi or another subi....decisions, decisions.......guess this puts a new bike on the backburner for awhile! |

....but me mate said 'chain' & he reckons $600 is on the low side/mates rates....something about Subi's...not much ever goes wrong with 'em....but when it does, be prepared to pay thru the nose!....bloody spark plugs cost 3 times normal for some reason?edit: No Ma, I'm not getting an STI....how can you afford to run that farkin thing....'book' says ya gotta run it on 98 octane...what's that **** $1.80 Lt? & Subi are so embarrassed about how many of them litres it goes thru, they don't even include the fuel consumption in the brochure...the bloke told me "if you care about that, you shouldn't be buying an STI" |

BTW, the STi definitely has a timing belt, dunno about the Outback which is a hairdresser's car IMHO .... get a real car, FFS $600 doesn't sound too bad for a timing belt change by Subaru standards, it's a bit fiddly - you can do it with the engine in situ, but you have to pull a ****load of stuff off to get to it. |

Thought for a sec I'd stumbled onto a cooking/car repair forum Racing...umm...I still can't get it through my thick skull that racin is about winnin & not about being on the front 40% of the time At least I've sorted out my cornering abilities thanks to jock & a bit practice.Speaking of thick skulls, my A1 works in a frock shop which has after Xmas specials........ A1 " Yes that is normally $30, but it is currently 50% off" Customer " Oh that sounds good, how much will it actually cost me" |

........spoken like a true dink, (double income, no kids), unfortunately I have practical considerations to consider...the kids will be around for awhile yet, (can't convince them to run away from home, or the DSS to take 'em & ebay keeps pulling me ad's)...so a 'family' car it will be!. Outbacks suit our needs perfectly, 'specially if I can stooge some salesman into a decent price on a 3 Lt six. ...or maybe a Forrester? which are cheaper |

As much as I love the way they drive, I gave up on my impreza a while ago because of the maintenance cost. Apart from the insurance (even for a non-WRX model), the servicing costs at mates rates were stupidly high. I have since bought a Mazda, which ain't as glam, but does the job for a fairer cost. Having said that, a former STi driver I know has very happily made the switch to a VW Golf turbo TDI, and is trying to get me to switch to a genuine european car, rather than a japanese made euro clone. n |

......Dude, in case it escaped your notice, (which is perfectly understandable from the confines of Moe!)....even the bloody taxi drivers are form downtown Bombay these days!!!!...weez gone multicultural!....besides, woudn't be seen dead in either o' dem 'sales reps' cars! |

My mate has a H6 Outback in black and that thing is farken noice. However, don't think the engine is an improvement over the 2.5 so I wouldn't bother with it. Too much additional weight, not enough added grunt to make up for it. I wonder if anyone has taken a Liberty 3.0, bored it to 3.5 and wacked a couple of turbos on it?
