He fargin got ripped off a bewdy recently. Some crunt sold him some 10sp Campag carbon Record levers, but when he put them on a bike, he couldn't work out why the levers only gave him 9 'clicks' when he was testing the gears. It turned out that the crunt had put some old shiddy 9sp mechanism in some 10sp carbon Record shells before he sold them to him!!!

I now have a pair of Deda 215 shallows on my bike to try out.

Won't be able to ride the baarstard until Saturday coz they love me at work so much they have me there 10 hours a day.

Did ride them up and down the street last night and they felt grouse. Don't have to bend the wrist to reach the thumb shifter. I have them pushed out a la Frank Vandenbrouke. I normally have the bars pushed out a tad but mainly because I am too jewy to go and buy new stems.

If it turns out I hate them the old man scores them. If I really like them there will be probably be two pair of 215 deeps 44cm for sale.

I noticed that I have about 12 pairs of handlebars hanging in the shed. I'm considering offloading some old Cinelli bars, 66's (deep), 42 c-c, 26.4mm diameter, as well as some Modolos, anatomic, 26mm (same shape as what Rominger used) and some of them anatomic odd shaped ones with the flat bit so you have wrist clearance - x-tenos or q-even or some stupid name, all 44cm outside to outside IIRC. PM if you are interested.

No, you can't have my 3ttt Merckx, 3ttt Gimondis, Cinelli 64's or Cinelli 65's.

Crikey! I thought I had a lot of spare bars, but i ain't got that many.

I hope we're talking traditional bend?

The first bars I bought were shallow, so I just got used to them.

I've got 3 sets of OS shallow Newtons: two older pairs of 215s and a newer set with the little red stripe on them, and I reckon they're grouse. I've also got some Cinelli 64s, some old ITM Pro 2s (26mm], and some Ritchey Classics. Hanging up I've got a set of deepish, narrow, bronze-coloured 3ttt Mexico Merckx bars, and some really old Cinellis

Man, I loved it, until the little grooves in the clamp wore out and it started slipping.

Their old embossed downtube levers and some of their rear derailleurs are pure pawn, and their shanks don't even need to be mentioned. Gord, I was jealous of the cool kids with their Delta brakers when I was hacking around with my Shimano 600. When I finally got some Chorus cranks I ponced around like a millionaire for ages.

The record posts are easy to spot - they don't have the little 'shielded' aero section either side of the seat binder bolt like the chorus and victory posts did:

If you can see the saddle binder bolt from the side it's a record - if you can't then it isn't.

Those chorus seatposts weigh a ton.

Bring it. Less the stack at the end, thanks.
My ******* god, that was the most insane run I've ever seen. If I was Peat I'd relinquish....seriously.....he had 5 seconds.

FIVE SECONDS is forever on that sort of run.

Fark.

Oh, and no Beepers I didn't buy the I9 wheels. I don't have any 26" bikes anymore. Plus like I said I can get them new for under a grand.

You will hate the shallow 215s and so will your old man. Save yourself the trouble and send 'em to me.

Anyone know how to custom bend alloy tube? I reckon there's a few bob to be made selling "Shinelly" 65's in modern metallurgy.

best. bars. evah!

I still have my chorus post though Its sitting in the garage gathering dust. I really need to get rid of this old stuff - or pick up an old frame and build a retro bike, I got all the fecking components for one then take it out on next years Deathride and whistle merrily while riding past all the really skinny guys on $10,000 Super Record equiped Scott Addicts... I just need an old school frame.

Now if only I could find some shoes that'd take old school cleats. I never thought I rue the day a couple of years ago that I threw out my old 'Bernard Hinault' blue and red Patrick shoes.
