Add a 300g freewheel ya farkwit and by modern standards it's a boat anchor.
A 300 gram freewheel? More like 500g - most steel cassettes are around 300grams and it has to be at least 200g for a freewheel body, no?

Double the boat anchor... and that's without the 300g "campy" quick release skewers.

Actually, I just remembered I have a cruddy one on my first (late '70s) 531 bike, which is an odd size, 26.8 or so

Anyone know how to custom bend alloy tube? I reckon there's a few bob to be made selling "Shinelly" 65's in modern metallurgy.

best. bars. evah!
There was a pair of 65's on ebay yesterday with the double grooves for ergopower. I assumed they were the later and rare 26mm versions.

This might be old news, but a guy on radio today reckons he watches the Vuelta live on this site.

Justin.tv - Live Video and Chat for Everyone

*Edit: oops, I meant the Vuelta*

Confirmed. steephill.tv bike travelogue and cycling videos will have direct links to the channel, and more video/audio feeds.

Commando is on.

Why do I feel tingly, have a need to oil up my torso, and an urge to put on the Village people?

Commando is nowhere near as ghey as Top Gun tho..

Nah, he can't be stuffed doing it. When it comes to selling old stuff, he's kinda stubborn and VERY patient! He says stuff like: "I know this bike is old and has depreciated heaps, but I also know that one day, some guy like you will come in and say, 'wow, that was my favourite bike when I was a kid', and pay reasonable money for it."

Ha! I was telling a chick recently that I'd never seen Top Gun, and she couldn't believe it, so she lent me her special anniversary edition DVD, and made me watch it. I unfortunately had to tell her it was probably the worst movie ever made, but maybe 13-yr-old boys and 9-yr-old girls would get something out of it. It didn't even have 'dag' enjoyment value -- it's just shid! Then, to top it off, the chick in it (Kellis McGillis) has been a closet dyke her whole life, so I couldn't go, "oo er, at least the chick is hot", while I was watching it

The 53 was a bit worn. The 39 was fairly new.

That's kinda ok for both parties, although, pretty cheap. What were the chainrings like?
