Existence you gotta look at these forums as some kinda weird Christian cult. I grew up in one and thankfully escaped. The first cycling forum I found a coupla years ago was RBR and I felt like I'd found some kind of internet based cycling nirvana and I got obsessed. I also naively thought I could be as open and honest about anything and everything as I wanted- politics, sociology, hell even cycling, and yes I was as green as, sometimes stupid, and in my eagerness I eventually found I was banging my head against walls. And it hurt. I slowly realised that it's just like any other community, cyclists are just people, and there's people that always play for keeps. Some want to own **** and I was stunned to realise how far some'll go to protect their turf. It's weirder because you can't always get a handle on the personalities and the subterfuge from the typed words. Oh yeah and the nutty Alpha types so often seem to be Seppos. Go figure. Eventually I moved on to BF and you blokes/shielas which was a laugh for a while and here we all are now. Here's cheers to Cyclingforums for the lighter touch and for providing a better sandpit.

Anyway, back to the christian analogy. Pretend it's the Christian (or in this case Cycling) Brotherhood. When I finally realised the cultish similarities I felt a lot more relaxed. It's just a small backwater of the real world with decent folk but also all kinds of freaks, big and small, that find it easier to take their frustrations out on a computer keyboard; and then there's also the people who are ??? enough to want or need to take positions of authority even in a bubble as small as a cycling forum; who often eventually get sucked into the maw of their own ambition or pride or whatever it happens to be.
When Forums Go Bad they're just another machine that wants to own your **** and make you submit to their methods.
Meh. Long live good old Aussie irreverence. And thanks to all of you for providing some lighthearted connection and some respite from the Bull****.
Crikey that was a load off. My qi feels all light and fluffy like.

Oh yeah, and were either of them cute?

Nice, Mark Renshaw (badsac's homeboy) wins the first TDU stage for Credit Agricole. He would have had a leadout from Julian Dean (champion sheep shagger)

Julian Dean is one of the best lead out men in the business IMO. That stage in the the Giro the other year when he lead out Kirsipu single handed (McEwen won) totally pwned Petacchis lead out train.

Girl 1 is incredibly attractive. Girl 2 was one of those chicks you are strangely attracted too but cant figure they hell out why.

Thanks for the input. Yeah they both were seppo chicks (classic1). Man am I soooo in the mood for a cool laidback aussie chick. Im sure one is just around the corner

I will take M's advice and get my head out the forums for a good while. I do feel sorry for the next seppo that hits me up for travel directions in Melbourne though....

Just did a quick search on Google and things seem to have gone quiet after the end of October. However, he appears to be back writing articles for the Daily Mirror which suggests he's recovered fairly well.

EDIT: On second thoughts .... The Daily Mirror .... maybe his injuries were more severe than anyone realised.

They started putting lambswool bar type on his bike and he has ridden like a man possessed ever since!

Well here's a bit of useless trivia .... if you put together your Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter editions of Ride, they spell the word "ride" across their spines.
