A couple of things to note if anyone does this project. Fitting 26" MTB wheels, This is ok, but clearance needs to be made for the tyre to allow the wheel to go in and out of the rear drop out. I cut and filed about 10mm off the stand bracket on the chain stays. See Pix. Brake Callipers, I used Road Callipers with 48-64mm drop, the drop is ok, but the MTB rims were a bit wide for the 15mm shoes in the callipers. I used some soft cheap brake shoes, 12mm thick. See Pix. 650c Wheels with 23-25mm tyres will fit the frame better and not have the brake calliper problems. The drop out will stretch to 130mm quite easily. I will leave the gearing standard for now and explore 8 speed later.
