Default Riding in Brisbane

Hello all,
I am an italian cyclist in Brisbane for 6 weeks.
I am not in racing shape, but I would like to join local riders for some easy rides.
I am in the Southbank, and can ride inthe morning and all day in the weekends.
Please respond on forum or at maestrogio@yahoo.com .
All the best to all.

Hey Giova - I hope you are enjoying your Brisbane riding - we've had some lovely weather. Down at Southbank you will find lots of cyclists hanging out at Poppy's, the Garage, Denim. A group ride leaves on Saturday morning from outside the State Library at 6am. Your best bet is to post on www.roadgrime.com.au - very friendly people there. Also there are lists of a few of the bunch rides that leave from all over the place at various times. Just jump on a bunch that looks right for you, and introduce yourself to a few people. Or go into the bikeshop on Stanley St (Riders) and ask them to put you in touch with a bunch.

Not exactly a bunch ride, but if you get a chance head north out of Brisbane to Dayboro and do the Brisbane - Woodford Road from Dayboro to D'Aguilar and return. I did this recently on my mtb and it was a great climb up to Mount Pleasant (about 500m increase in elevation) and a cool descent to Mt Mee (just wished I was on the road bike but there's only so many bikes they let you take on the plane ). The climb back is good too with some nice steep bits. I saw several roaddies when I was out. It seemed a fairly popular road to cycle on, but I'm not a local so I don't really know.
