Thumbs down Non-existent Coverage of Tour

So much for the "resurgence of cycling in Victoria" I keep hearing about in the press. The Jayco Herald Sun Tour started today, so was it on the news? No. TV coverage? No. 11.00 pm and all I can find is a pretty lame result list on the official site - had to dig to find it though!....

I'd LOVE to see some video coverage of this event, so does that make me a freak or is it just the media all screwed up??

SBS had a fairly comprehensive report on the 6.30 news, at least a 30 second report, maybe even a minute. They had a lead in, described the race in some detail, showed a crash (in context of the race, not sensationalist), film of the breakaways, Kemps on his own racing, winning the stage and on the podium.

That's more than anybody would expect in Australia. You might find a 1hr highlights package on SBS or TEN in a few weeks time once the editors have had a chance to condense a stage race into 40 mins.

You also get a whole lot of north american centric crap to fill in most of the other 23:30 in the day when they're not talking about football, for your $40 a month.

Not worth it to me.

True - I get very annoyed at how much rugby is on but I do get to watch triathlons, mtb world series, some road cycling etc...
ESPN is a joke though - 5 minutes of sport 55 minutes of ads.
