I lived in Auckland in the 70's. During this time I was a runner and went to the speedway with my Father. I was over in Auckland last week and visited New Lynn velodrome, where I often competed on the running track in the middle. I remember the New Lynn velodrome being concrete with lines marked, what I saw last week was bumpy tarmac and no lines, also the track looked a little narrower than I remember. I have heard that Western Springs had a velodrome and I remember the speedway having a bowl edge on the corners. Looking at early pictures of speedway there appears to be a larger bowl, suggesting it had been filled in. So whats the story on these 2 velodromes? |

Use to be a concrete track. You think they could of done a smoother job of the tarmac. |
