Default Baggy shorts - options & availability (Melb)

Hi everyone, I've joined a social (old farts) cycling group after years of inactivity, and I'm learning fast that a decent pair of cycling shorts would be a nice thing - but I know nothing about them other than a few minutes Googling the subject. I like the idea of baggy shorts with detachable liners.

I ran across a brand online called Swobo, who appear to get good reviews for comfort and quality. I know from bitter experience though that what you can find online and what you can find on Aussie shelves are two very different things, and I don't really want to wander, wide-eyed, into my nearest bike shop and be totally at the mercy of whoever is serving on the day...

So I'd love to hear any tips on locally available options? Brands or outlets to seek out or avoid? These will be my first and only cycle shorts for a while so I'd like to know I'm not missing out on quality or comfort!

If you have no luck, I got mine from Ground Effect - a Kiwi company who have a good web site and are great to deal with. Do alot of good winter gear too.

Mutually exclusive - this is the only time you're going to see "decent" and "baggy" in the same sentence.

As in life, you pay for what you get.
I've been at this for a few years and each pair I buy is dearer than the last.

Have a look at the chamois in each pair - starting with a cheap generic set from Aldi, the padding will be a wafer of sponge similar to a mouse mat.
So leave that one alone and pop into a bike shop.
Have a look at their bottom of the range and their top ones - paying attention to the chamois. Select the one that has the best chamois for your budget.
There are other specialist clothing shops - how deep are your pockets.?

Oh - one last thing there's only one colour for bike shorts. (Unless you're sponsored).
