BOBs

I'm also pondering (all I can do till my bike arrives) BOBs.

First, should I? or should I try and do it all with bike mounted packs?

I had a BOB trailer for a number of years and grew more to
dislike it for road touring behind our Ryan Duplex tandem.
For one, it seems like we were always running out of room to
pack the things we needed (basic camping gear). Even with
compression sacks, a tent and two sleeping bags would take
up the majority of the room in the trailer.

The other thing I did not like was the force put on the
chainstays by the trailer. Whichever way the bike tilted,
the trailer did too.

Earlier this year, we sold the BOB and bought a Burely
Nomad, which I am VERY happy with. Much more room to store
things, and the independent, swivel mount is fantastic.

I towed a Bob around Australia for 19,000 km's and found it in-valuable, so
much so that I bought my wife one when we were in Brisbane and she then
finished the trip with it. We were on LoGo Recumbent Trikes and had a blast.

We have a bob that we use on the back of our M5 tandem and
my front drive low racer. We only use it for getting
groceries. The only problem was the clattering of the wine
bottles. I fixed that by putting a foam sheet on the bottom
of the trailer.

Ear plugs would have been a lighter -weight solution.
