Default My! My! What DID that lady say??????????

Boy did you guys and gals that didn't make the Kerrville, TX ride miss a good time. The weather
was PERFECT.

I have never seen so many bents in one place. At one time, as I was trudging up a steep grade in my
"two foot" gear, I was looking at 2 bents ahead of me and 5 more following. 8 in all, on the same
hill, at the same time, with no unbents in sight. There were Lightnings, Visions, Rans, Easy Racers,
Barcrofts, Reynolds, Haluzaks and more. There were singles and tandems. USS and ASS. Fast guys and
girls and then there was me making sure that nobody else came in last.

The high point of the Saturday ride occured at SAG stop #2. I had just arrived when a female of
about 45 to 65 drove by in a white pickup. I noticed that her neck was all swollen and red and that
the veins in her face were enlarged and pulsing. Her eyes were all bugged out and her mouth was
moving. At first I didn't pay much attention, thinking that she was overcome with emotion at seeing
me glide in on the Dakota and make an elegant dismount. As she got closer I was able to make out the
screeching. She was screeching at the crowd of cyclists that were eating bananas, oranges, pickles
and CC cookies and generally being cool.

"GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!!!! WE DON'T WANT YOU HERE!!!! RADICAL RIGHT WING FACIST PIGS!!!!!!!"

Boy do those "Radical left wing socialist sows" really get mad when they see old fat guys in
tights.................

PS

I saw what looked like a TiRush being piloted by a guy wearing sandals. Could that have been
Limey Lou?????

Wow - Kerrville. *sigh* I spent a summer there playing at the Point Theatre on the Guadalupe. Jumped in the river every night before the show. Brings back such great memories! And now to hear there is a good 'bent population in the area - makes me miss it even more. Thanks for the smile.

And the guffaw about your story!! hahaha LMBO!

"Limey Lou" has SPD implants in his feet, and as such does not require sandals.

Hi, Jerry, what in fact you might have seen was my ghost from years past.

I have done the Kerrville ride many times but this year I was riding my upright bike in Beautiful
Benbrook TX.

Hopefully you will get to enjoy as many fun times on the Easter Hill Country Tour as I have.

Lewis.

It is a brand name of bicycle built in Kansas.

I will go out on a limb and predict Tom will take issue with your answer on several levels. Let's
wait and see.

Nancy & I rode in Kerrville last weekend on our Double Vision. Excellent weather & terrain for a
bike ride. Saw more recumbents than last year, and they seemed to be more organized into groups. On
Friday some of those 12% grades were exacerbated by the wind gusts of 25+ mph, but no complaints.

Those of you who haven't ridden the Texas hill country should sign up for next year's ride; that
will be the 31st year for this well organized ride.

You have got that right Skip. Mr. Tom Sherman is going to tell us that "Rans" is spelled "RANS" even
though 9 out of 10 of us spell it Rans and 10 out of 10 of us know what is meant by it. But Mr.
Sherman is a stickler for detail and he is quite correct. The RANS web site (here I should insert a
number which would refer you to a footnote giving you the RANS web site address, but I am not as
helpful as Mr. Sherman in this regard) never once spells the word as Rans. It is probably not the
"brand" name either nor are they probably "built" in Kansas anymore. Let's at least agree that we
can still call it a bicycle!

One of the occupational hazards of being a consulting engineer is that anything one writes could end
up in the hands of a lawyer who will do his/her best to willfully misinterpret it - one develops a
learned awareness of the multiple possibilities of interpretation. I also review a considerable
amount of material written/compiled by others before it is sent to clients. These habits carry over
into my non-work related reading and writing.
