Default Cheap LED xmas lights

I'm doing the following for my kayak, but thought someone might be interested in decorating
their 'bent.

Walgreen's had 35 LED Christmas lights for half price at $4 a string of 35. While these are designed
for AC, you can convert them to DC by using a series of 4 (maybe 5) running off 12V DC, in parallel
or other configuration.

It would probably be a good idea to put a resistor in series to keep the max current around 20mA. A
bonus is if one goes out, you only lose 4 lights, not all 35.

They also look brightest end-on.
