I'm doing the following for my kayak, but thought someone might be interested in decorating their 'bent. Walgreen's had 35 LED Christmas lights for half price at $4 a string of 35. While these are designed for AC, you can convert them to DC by using a series of 4 (maybe 5) running off 12V DC, in parallel or other configuration. It would probably be a good idea to put a resistor in series to keep the max current around 20mA. A bonus is if one goes out, you only lose 4 lights, not all 35.
