Default New bike recommendation

Hello,

I am just starting in this hobby. I was looking for a bike in the $1000 price range like a Nemesis or something similar. However one of my colleagues came up with this Cannondale and he is selling it for $350. Can you guys give me some advise on whether its worth it?

It seems ok, I guess - it is probably getting a bit old now. Is it a good size for you?

If you take your time, you may find a better deal, something a little newer - I had a quick look on ebay and there is a lot of stuff for sale in the US at good prices.

A lot of people on this forum talk about craigslist (or something like that) for used bikes in the US - I'm in Australia - that might be a good place to look.

But, that said Cannondales are a good brand with a good reputation. You may knock the price down a bit, that might make it more attractive (but those dropouts - what were they thinking?).

What was your original budget?

I dont have a budget. I was just looking for something that would help me work out during the summer. I understand that there are better bikes out there but for more money. I dont know whether I should spend $1200 and get a new Nemesis Motobecan or I should spend $350 for this one. On one hand I know I can do better than this and its possible that at some time I will upgrade. On the other hand I am not sure it I will make the most out of a brand new bike and I will always worry about scratching it or getting stolen. What do you guys advise?

Have you taken it for a test ride? If so, how does it feel? If it feels good and is the right size for you I'd buy it. Looks like a good bike to get started on.

By the way, what size is it?
