My buddy Bill is hell bent on buying a Colnago C50. His LBS is suggesting a Look 595 or the new Cervelo R3 SL. What is it that makes Colnago, especially the C50 so sought after. We have had this discussion over and over in the coffee shop and can not come to a meeting of the minds. Any thoughts? |

Like any one of another dozen or so brands Colnagos are top notch frames. Plus they have an almost unrivalled pedigree in terms of wins - Colnago has always invested heavily in pro sponsorships. Ernesto's frames are top notch, race ready machines, coming from a company with a great history, excellent (or at least instantly recognisable) paint schemes, very comfortable to ride, expensive and exclusive. One thing I do have to admit is that Colnago probably offers the widest variety of frame sizes, and has no problem providing you with a custom spec frame if you so choose. The C50 is a wonderful frame, one of the best out there (I realise that it is probably one of 20~30 absolutely fabulous frames you can buy), and you will not be disappointed if you purchase one. And all this comes from a De Rosa man.
