Default Dynamic Bicycles

I owned a Dynamic Bicycles shaft drive bicycle. The Sussex shaft drive was not built to specifications that could handle the torque generated when pedaling uphill, or pedaling hard on level ground. The result was that the shaft drive was not maintenance free--in fact, it broke. I replaced it with a new shaft drive sent by Dynamic Bicycles. The new one began to break and I was told by their Production Manager that I was exceeding the specifications of the shaft drive. I received a verbal agreement from him to refund the purchase price of the bicycle. Dynamic Bicycles even took care of the return shipping for the bicycle.

Once they received it, however, the president of Dynamic Bicycles told me that I had owned the bicycle longer than 30 days, so the satisfaction guarantee no longer applied. I was given the option of having my bicycle returned to me with a tightened bolt and new grease, which would supposedly fix the problem, or receiving a refund minus the cost of shipping and a 15% restocking fee. Despite phone conversations, emails and then a complaint process with the Better Business Bureau In Eastern Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont (Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont Consumer and Business Reviews, Reports, Ratings, Complai - E. MA, ME, RI and VT BBB), the president of the company would not uphold a verbal agreement stated twice and acknowledged by email. Because I do not live in Massachusetts, the state where Dynamic Bicycles is located, it made no sense for me to pursue a mediation or claim in small claims court, which would have required my presence. I will never do business with Dynamic Bicycles again, nor would I recommend doing business with Dynamic Bicycles. I am also weary of bicycles sold with shaft drives built by Sussex.

Dynamic Bicycles has tens of thousands of customers around the world using its chainless bicycles, and has a retutation for quality bicycles and great customer service. We regret that this customer had a bad experience, but firmly believe this customer was in the wrong. For clarification, this customer owned his bicycle for nearly a year before having the issue he described. When he contacted us, we made every effort to resolve his issue. We even paid for return shipping of his bicycle and performed the service at no charge just to make sure that there was not anything wrong with his bicycle. There was not. We found that his bicycle had many loose nuts and bolts (some obviously so) and also he had not added any lubrication to the gears since he started riding it. Even a cursory inspection on his part would had resolved his issues. Once we made these corrections, the bike was as good a new. When we contacted him with this news, we thought he would be glad. He was not. He refused to take the bicycle back and expected a full return of his money after riding it for nearly a year and neglecting to perform any service to it. In the spirit of customer service, we did return his money less a restocking fee, which we felt was more than generous. In return, he submits posts like this. We stand behind our handling of his situation, and continue to stand behind the quality of our bicycles. In fact, we offer a lifetime warranty on our shaft drive system. This is how confident we are in its performance and durability. - Patrick Perugini, President, Dynamic Bicycles.

Dynamic Bicycles' chainless bikes combine two innovative technologies to create a new generation of bikes that are smoother to ride, easier to operate, and simpler to maintain than traditional chain bikes.
1. The first of these technologies is patented shaft drive that smoothly transfers power from the pedals to the rear wheel.
2. The second is internal gear hubs, whereby all the gearing is neatly tucked away inside the rear wheel.

Internal gearing has been around for a long time.
