Default Specialized Allez 27 vs Scott Speedster S60

So i'm looking for a entry-level performance bike, and I can't really decide on which road bike to pick. The Scott Speedster S60 felt really good to ride, and went up hills pretty well, but I don't really like the shifters because they get in my way when I have my hands on the brake hoods. The Specialized Allez is a little more expensive, but the sifters are better and it was more responsive.

I plan on riding for fitness, lots of climbing, and pretty long distance rides. I've heard the Specialized Allez is easily upgradable, so should I take that into consideration? I have been riding a burly downhill bike for far too long, and I need something faster, easier, and much more fun.

Which one do you guys recommend?

You need to say what shifters were on each bike: Campagnolo? Shimano? SRAM?

Scott speedster S60= Shimano Sora ST-2200
Dual control 24 Speed

And the Allez 27=Shimano Sora, 9-speed STI, flight deck compatible. I think these were different on the one I rode.

I'm really new to road bikes, so help is definitely appreciated.

The 9-speed Sora shifters are probably marginally nicer/better than the 8-speed Sora shifters ...

What is the cost difference?

$750 Scott and $900 Specialized. But I have pretty much decided on the Scott.
