A great many of internet forum users stop by to get a few questions answered, but not to become part of a forum clique. If you want to be a helpful public forum, don't act like sods when they show up. You may be sick of hearing the same "which bike" question, but how about those if us sick of hearing the "which rider" or "doping or not" or "which 10k dollar peice of cycling swag will get you some attention from the other snobs" If you don't want the general cycling public, make yourself a private cult. otherwise deal with it.

My advice for anyone new or sick of jerk snob members from this point on is to use these forum pages only as a gateway to usenet.

You heard me.

I read a lot of the posts, but as you can see, don't generally post a lot. I have to say, though, that I couldn't agree more. The one's I like, particularly, are when people say, "Shouldn't this be on the 'such-and-such' forum?" or, "Please don't 'double-post,' it takes up too much space."

Frankly, it takes up more space and one's time to actually mess with posting said posts.

If somebody wants to post in a number of areas to make sure it gets maximum exposure to those who may have the right answer or helpful information, so what.

Hell, if you want to get down to brass tacks, a lot of times the people who complaining are the ones who reply with a mile long quote from the previous post and a two line reply of their own. If you reply to something, I think it's safe to say that we know what it is to which you're replying.

All-in-all, I like the forum. There's a lot of good information and it can be quite entertaining (10 ways to look like a better cyclist - Hysterical!!!). But, I don't always find it necessary to post about any- and everything.

It's one thing to post the same thing in different forums (ie Bike Cafe, Cycling Equipment, Road Racing), which is only a little annoyance (in my opinion). It's another thing to make 2 or 3 of the same threads in the same forum.

For whatever it is worth, I am in the forums at bodybuilding.com a lot. Virtually the same concerns are found there, e.g. questions asked by newcomers to the board.

Keydates,

OK yeah, I do agree that posting the same thing over and over again in the same forum can be annoying. And, yes, my contention was based on posting in different forums.
