We are thinking about trying Kaloko on Tuesday morning. We have been riding on the Queen K between the scenic over view and town. Also over to the Kings shops.

Is there ever a tail wind???

Smile Re: Hawaii

try riding south towards the coffee plantations, a few climbs but worth the effort & very pretty bay at the bottom of the hill where you can jump in the ocean & cool off. look at the Capt. Cook area...

Kaloko road is in Kailua-Kona I believe. If you turn on Mani-Lani (sp) and take this to the stop sign and then turn left. It is about the third street on the right. Starts at 1500 and goes to 3500-4000 in 6 miles. It is a little longer if you start from the Queen K. THis brings you in at 600 ft. above sea level. It is a nice little climb a lot of zig-zagging!!!

Wild thread! I'm actually in Kona right now! Been here since last Friday and we are leaving Sunday night. We just checked out of the Royal Sea Cliff Resort today and are now staying down in South Kona with fiends. I got in 3 rides all pretty much out the highway towards the airport. I hear a lot of people ride south, but it doesn't seem safe to me. Ride the ironman route. Good amount of shoulder and pretty for the most part.

Yes, Kona is a very special place, even with the invasion in the last few years of all the big box stores, ie: Walmart, Costco, KMart. We never get tired of Kona. What are some of your favorite restaurants?
To name a few of ours, Bianelli's, Drysdales, Huggo's, Aloha Cafe, Sibu's.
