I just got my first road bike (Fuji Roubaix Pro) last weekend and my first rides didn't exceed 35km. Yesterday I planned a longish route with several bailout options that could make it a 50, 75, 100km ride depending on how I felt and I'm glad to say I was able to ride out the full 100km (103.5km actual) loop. Everything felt suprisingly good (except for the 65km bonk in a headwind and the longish hill at 85km) and I'm looking forward to doing my first real century sometime in the near future... especially if I can do it with a group and be able to draft now and again. That's all, just felt like sharing |

I remember my first metric century I did, which was sponsored by a bike shop. It was so much fun, and suprisingly I didn't get that tired. Yep, riding long distance is a lot of fun. Especially if the route you are on is new to you.
