I HATE SOUTH JERSEY.... I have a nice route that I ride that is not too congested with traffic and only portions of the road are poorly kept, but it is only 10 miles... I want to ride longer distances and mix up my routes a bit so I dont get bored, but everywhere I try to ride it is busy streets, dangerous intersections, and crappy roads! If you look at maps around my house everywhere you look it is crappy cycling roads.... I need to find some nice long winding roads that the pavement is smooth.... My problem right now is that I dont have a bike rack for my car so I cant go way out into the country to ride it....although that doesnt matter much because south jersey is so congested there really isnt much open road. Just a rant...thanks for listening. |

Jersey sucks, so does Indiana. There was a story on CNN how a bunch of cops were doing a charity bike ride for their fallen brothers and sisters, then some jackass in a truck plows into them and kills some more...

My area though.... I have 295, 130, 42, and all kinds of crazy intersections of busy back roads with wierd angles that make them a pain in the ****. Some of the roads have wide shoulders, but again the pavement is so un-even it feels like I am riding off road. |

Do nice parks exist in NJ where you can work out on a bike path? Do you always have to give a tip to the gas man when filling up your car? Chicago is so great! Especially the Lake Shore Drive Bike path. Then I have a park 1 mile away from me so I can workout there after work! |

oh and depending on your car, you could put the bike in the trunk and tie it down... (you will need a towel to prevend any scratch damage to your bike but if you are careful, it can be done... Last edited by e0richt; 08-25.-2006 at 08:15 AM. Reason: additional info |

you are very close to the mullica hill/ salem county area that has MILES of lower traffic, rural roads through territory that probably spawned the name "garden state". get away from the river and you will find the riding much better. check out rt. 77, rt.557, rt.538 sometime. the lower end of gloucester county has some fair hills for a coastal region. get a cheapo bike rack and head out. jersey really does suck, but that riding isn't half bad if you know where to go. |

attached so you don't need any bungie cords... the velcro strap go over the bike and thru the grips and flip over to "stick" to the other side of the strap... I love it and have used it to carry the bike to other trails so that I don't get bored with one route... |
