Hey K5on42s, Durham is a pretty big area, please narrow it down to a specific place and time dumbass. Like I posted before, matter of fact I'll post it again, because I know you got kicked in the head by a mule so your memory is no good. "Hey K5on42s I live in the Raleigh area. We can meet some where and talk about this issue you have with cyclists. We can see if you are as bad as your words. You call us fags, guaranteed I will hand you your ass you little *****." I'm serious, i'm not **** talking. Give me a place and time, so we can meet and like I said I will hand you your ass *****!!!!! |

Gentlemen please, honestly I'm not quite sure why this guy is posting all this crap on a cycling forum, but sinking down to his level is not the way to respond to this. I'm sure he's just trying to get attention, but I don't really see his point in just posting to get everyone worked up. Personally, I think the best way to deal with this kind of a guy is to just ignore him, and let him and his...let's just say 'unique views'.. go unanswered. That's my two cents.

Exactly How Old Is This Idiot? Please Do Not Provoke Him. Reading His Posts Just Gives Me Headaches. Although I Can't Help It. I Don't Want To Read It But His Obvious Stupidity Is Like A Shot Of Heroin In The Arm!

I'm afraid it does happen--expect it. You're in a public place and on open roads, liable to meet people of every stripe and color. Being behind the wheel isn't much different than being behind a computer--there's some perceived anonymity or protection that allows people to speak or act differently than they do in other social contexts. So, ride defensively, expect the worst driving, etc. But also put into the equation, the generous gestures you receive, the careful drivers--they are out there too.

I'm a bicycle rider and a car driver and I have seen both arrogant drivers and arrogant bikers on the roads. A bicycle should NOT be in the same lane as cars if a good shoulder is available. There are times that a biker SHOULD be on the sidewalk--it's easier for the biker to yield to pedestrians than it is for cars on some roads to yield to bicyclists. I've seen bicyclists riding three and four abreast on city lanes, and I've had them shout insults at me as I squeezed past them or honked at them to move over so that I could get by. By-and-large, roads are not designed for bicyclists. They lack a good shoulder, the drainage grates can often shawllow the tires of a road bike, and there are various other obstructions along the shoulder, if a shoulder even exists. In a few communities they are building bike lanes-- but since the traffic signs and signals are designed with cars in mind, these lanes don't really help much. Bike trails where I live are beautiful and scenic but they rarely go anywhere you really need to go. I very much would like to see more done to integrate bike and vehicle traffic, but this tends to happen very slowly in most communities. So far as the 'sidewalks aren't built for bikes' argument--they aren't, of course. But roads don't exist for personal vehicles, either. The original purpose of roads was to provide access for commercial vehicles. Only incidentally do private cars have any 'rights' to public roads. We all are supposed to share the roads. Some of us do it well, some very poorly. Sorry about all the bad experiences people have had on the roads. I've had my share in the few months I've been riding again as well. |
