Gained an extra hours sleep today - with the clocks going back. But the downside is that we have an hour less daylight in the evening. I went out for the usual 50 mile Sunday spin this afternoon. Depressing to see daylight starting to fade at 17.00hrs. Between now and the 21st December is hard going, for cycling. After the 21st December, i know that more daylight is on the horizon (even though the clocks don't go forward until March). Always find cycling tough going at this time of year. I absolutely refuse to use an indoor trainer - unless it is literally impossible to cycle outdoor.

Here in Arizona we do the logical thing: we don't change the clocks. |

Why put the clocks back an hour? The argument is that we do so because more daylight in the morning, makes travelling more safe (to schools, work etc). and Matagi - I envy you coming in to your summer.

Not in the U.S. until next weekend. DST in the U.S. (for those states that observe it) was extended as of this year and now starts 3 weeks earlier and ends one week later, from the 2nd weekend of March until the 1st weekend of November. This has generated a bit of extra work for me in my line of work.... Of course, you don't have to worry about it if you're in AZ, HI, or eastern IN - those areas in the U.S. don't observe DST.

Here in the Great White North, we used to change our clocks earlier, but the people in the land below us decided to change their clocks differently, and our government decided we had to follow suit. So we now change 3 weeks earlier (I think), and 1 week later than before. |
