[QUOTE=slyjackson]I ride in those at home(Bryans Road Maryland)...like yesterday for instance. 22+mph wind in my face on the way back on my 25 mile training route that has 3 hills, one is at least a 7% grade hill thats about 100 yards long which is at the end of the 25 mile route. Do that with the wind blowing 20 mph in your face. I know pain by it's first name. I'm doing a ride next week that I did this past March. It's 40 miles long with over 4000 ft. of climbing. |

Iffin' you want company on some rides, I'm hip to that, and I've got pockets full of good rides. As it happens my grad school spring break is from March 14-22. I can prolly/maybe/possibly ride before that, depending on my test/work load. PM me iffin' you want to know more. |

I go to Florida, Punta Gorda, to visit my mom, and rent a road bike while I am there. I did a trip in the third week of June. Besides that the humidy was really high for the entire week, the worst was the bugs. Everytime I stopped for a break I got swarmed. I much prefer to ride in Washington over Florida. But then in January I can't ride, but you can in Florida.

Now, we're knee deep in the monsoon season, and our humidity is highest this time of year. Right now, our humidity is a whopping 45%. I think that's a dry/arid day in Ohio. |

Did a century in Tahoe last year. I thought it would be slower because of the altitude. A friend that did it previously told me he actually finds it easier (provided you hydrate properly the week prior) because the lower humidity means you don't have to cut through the air per se. Boy was he ever right. That, coupled with the much better scenery, and it was pure heaven. And, I didn't think there was any such thing as flats without wind . . . |

I'm just not sure which is worse. Running four miles in 102 degree heat in Las Vegas one July and finishing without a drop of sweat on me, or taking my dog for a five-minute walk this afternoon in Florida, wearing only shorts (me, not the dog), and having to wash the sweat off my face when I got back. I guess the former is more "comfortable" and convenient, but I tend to think the latter is healthier. All I know is that every time I've spent time in the southwest, within a day my skin looks like a mummy's. |

When given a choice, I far prefer dry heat. But I will ride in whatever nature provides, and given Rome's traditional weather, it tends to be hot, sticky and quite humid. Oh well...
