You don't see cyclists carrying a granite cobblestone pretending to be the winner of Paris-Roubaix. A jersey is a uniform. A supporter/fan wears it as support and recognition of the individual, team or event.

It's akin to a Brazilian soccer supporter wearing a Brazillian team jersey... It means nothing other than you are a fan.

My mate has a Madonna tshirt... doesn't mean he thinks he's Madonna... er, now that I think of it..... Naaaah!.......
Christ, I didn't think you people were so touchy about your clothes. And you call me pretentious.

Utterly False.

All cyclists caught in yellow jerseys should be shot immediately.

Yup, you're pretentious. Who is "you people?" Cyclists in general don't give a **** what someone else is wearing. Walking vaginas, though, such as yourself, get all constipated when someone wears one of the exalted clothing icons that only the gods can wear. Then you open your mouth, and your fetid fleshbag status is revealed to all.

don't be so quick to judge, if you saw the hill and were riding a mountain bike with a 40lb backpack and just smoked a spliff I doubt you would make it also fag boy. go hunt for some aliens and watch that you don't fall when you ride, I here you guys in the US have no universal health care. An injury could financially bankrupt you lol

Man. You're gonna be a real threat once you get out of junior high.

Guilty as charged. I think about jerseys all day, every day. My therapist says it's because of all the envy and jealousy that brews while I'm out there being pretentious in my $8 Duofold t-shirts.

"You people" is you and dom.

Here's another opinion: your avatar sucks.

Don't worry about alienators opinions. He's getting close to middle age and he's suffering from a midlife crisis. Probably upset at all the time he wasted with his life and just finally now finishing school while people half his age (like me) already have careers, a house, and get to travel the world with their bikes. Actually we should all feel sorry for him and just let him say what he wants. Its all he's got.

I only ride in pro and national champion kit. Why would one compromise when there are chicks and other cyclists out there judging me? If I see a chick on a bike in front of me I use one of two strategies... if she isn't super hot I will slow down to her speed for a quarter of a mile... about 80 yards behind her. Then when I have caught my breath I stomp on the pedals and get it up to 30 mph+ before sitting down and flicking to the 53/11 and cruising/flashing past in the drops as relaxed looking as I can at about 65 cadence. If I'm lucky... there's a coffee shop ahead that I can stop in and wait for her inevitable arrival. I haven't scored yet... but if the gal sees me again... she usually gives me a second look, and one time the chick giggled... obviously impressed.

If the chick is really hot.... I cruise past at her speed but with my hands off the bars while I peel the wrapper off a powerbar. I try to make some smooth talk like "I'm training for the World's... do you mind if I ride with you for a while?" Usually she doesn't say anything but just slows down so that I can ride ahead.... obviously intimidated that I might be a pro.

Someone once said that if you can't ride like a pro... at least you can look like one. Makes sense to me.

I don't understand amateur cyclists who wear pro jerseys, and I don't understand people who wear their favorite team or player paraphenalia. I guess what it comes down to is that I don't understand people who feel compelled to make public statements about who they are. The people in their lives already know (for better or worse), and the rest of us don't give a ****.

I heard a sock down the bib will have the desired effect as well. Make sure it isn't yellow or rainbow strips tho'... and for gawds sake don't let it work it's way round to the back....
