Yup. I guess you and I are guilty of making personal statements by wearing what we wear. Of course, the only team kit I have is that 7-11 jersey, and my statement is only that I think the jersey looks pretty classy. Does that qualify as a personal statement? Oh, I do have two different Livestrong jerseys, and I always wear a Livestrong wristband. I guess my statement there is that I think more money for cancer treatment and research is a good thing. I guess that might be personal since my wife had it, my best friend died of it, a 16 year old cousin died of it. I guess that makes me pretentious, what with hoping for cures for more types of cancer.

All of my bibs are black, 'cuz, as everyone knows, black chicks are hot. Life's not been the same since I saw Get Christie Love.

I didn't realize there were so many people making personal statements on their bikes. Why today I saw people in red jerseys, green jerseys, and blue, and I thought, "What the hell kind of personal statement are they trying to make and impose on me?" And then I thought, "They've got some nerve wearing those jerseys as if they're monochromatic people of that same wavelength!" The guy in the red shirt really pissed me off, because I just know he wore that so that everyone would think he was an American Indian. There's no way, with that pale skin and red hair, that he had any injun blood in 'im. Boy, did I feel all the anger of my Cherokee ancestors boiling in my blood! Where did that guy get off, eh?

And don't get me started about the lady I saw wearing a Ford t-shirt: hell, she was Mexican, so I know damned well she wasn't related to anyone in the Ford family.

Christ. Now, excuse me. I gotta go back to my refrigerator box, eat the leftover eggs I found in the dumpster, and be jealous of college graduates that already have careers, can travel, and own their own homes. If you happen to drive by a big Frigidaire box with the words, "Mine! Stay out! spray painted neon orange on the side, please chuck a nickel or maybe one of thems Canuck dollars my way......so I can get my Roadmaster bike fixed.

You've unwittingly made my point, Alien. A Mexican wearing a "Ford" shirt? She obviously was trying to encourage other Mexicans to cross the river and take all us lawyers' and physicists' and doctors' jobs. Instead of wearing a shirt that encourages law-breaking she should wear nothing at all, and I'll be the judge of that.

YOU WEAR LIVESTRONG JERSEYS????
Watch out for Aussie snipers!

That means you must be..... naaaah..... could you possibly be....But, but, the only person allowed to wear them is... are you really coming out of retirement?????

I've never (since 16) worn any other colour but black. Not just cycling... everything I wear is black. I would never wear yellow (hate the colour) or rainbow stripes (they mean something quite different to the outside world... you know ).... BUT I WILL DEFEND THE RIGHT TO WEAR THEM 'TIL......THE DEATH... of this thread!

Anyway... enough of this shyte... I'm off to ride on my new Langster London... which is white but that's OK 'coz so am I (at least the bits that don't stick out of my bib and jersey are) and it has a Union Jack on the top tube... and that's also OK 'coz I'm a Londoner... and aren't the British are the best cyclists in the world at the moment... :speeds off:

No, you unwittingly made my point because there's nothing I enjoy more than fine Mexican lasses who see fit to leave their statements--statements which would have been borne on succulent, full, yet perky breasts--in their shirt drawer. See for yourself: this.......

I agree they should not be yellow............at least not initially and rainbow colored might get attention, although it might be attention of an alternate type.

I really doubt these guys love the colour yellow. They just want to pretend they are champs in their own little world.
I like the hi-viz quality of the Maglia Rosa, Maillot Jaune, my favorite is radioactive green .

One important objective in the activity of cycling and running is to "Be Seen" just say'n.

LW, stop it. Now you are trying to be logical in this thread. That is simply bad sportsmanship...

You're right Pete....

Yellow jerseys are not what bothers me.... It's the Orange cone cycling helmets... That's what ticks me off.

After reading the whole thread, I am finally convinced by the overwhelming evidence.

We should avoid yellow not only from bicycle riding, but from wearing for anything since otherwise we would obviously be pretending to stand on the podium, or walking off of the podium or relaxing after walking off the podium.

We should immediately boycott all stores and online vendors that sell any shirts, jerseys, blouses pajama tops, jackets, slickers, ponchos or anything else worn on the upper body in any shade of yellow, or that is composed primarily of yellow.

It is the least we could do because the winner's jersey of the Tour de France happens to be yellow.

Let's just hope they never change the color, or we'll lose another color because we'll have to grandfather in yellow for at least two generations.

Radio Active Green!!! You can't wear Radioactive Green.... that colour can only be worn by the winners of ToS (Tour of Springfield).... also known as "ToSsers"... I believe Homer Simpson was the last Tosser.

A green armband was the original designation for the Tour de France leader, so I guess green is out. The yellow jersey wasn't used until about 1919.

And no pink re: the Giro. And no polkadots. And no green jersey. And no purple jersey. And not black jersey. And no rainbow jersey. And no white jersey. And lots of other stuff. This is getting complicated...
