I once had a stretch limo drive bye with what looked like high school kids parading around on their way to prom try to spray me with a water bottle. (They missed).

Other than that, just the occasional jerk flappin' his lips...

We lived in Tasmania for close to two years. I've been riding since the mid 90's and never had anything thrown at me from a car until we moved to Tasmania.

Most times they'd throw beer bottles, sometimes empty other times half full. It usually happened when I was descending Mt Wellington and coming into South Hobart. I think the name of the road was strickland avenue or something like that.

The place is full of uneducated low income earners with nothing better to do. I wouldn't recommend riding down there until attitudes change a lot. Also the amount of bombs on the road down there is insane.

I would at least give the police a call , idiots throwing something at you is no joke..

Thankfully in the two months ive been back to cycling ive not had anything thrown at me(knock on wood) but have had a group of teens in a Ford Explorer go head on with me and just yesterday I was called a B**ch by a drunk ninja salmon on my commute home..I laughed my **** off for a hundred yards or so then turned off all my lights, spun around and buzzed his **** at top speed yelling B**ch as I passed him...Sadly he never dropped his beer but I did scare the &#)@) out of him..Not the brightest thing to do but I dont claim to be .

I haven't had anything thrown at me yet, but I'm sure going to expect it to happen since I live in a college town with thousands of douchers that come here in the fall. Mostly I've just been heckled. I just got done going down the local mountain, Mt Ashland, with my friend, and I was rather dirty since I kinda ate it going down. But anyways, stupid wrestlers from the wresting camp the college had called me a dirty mother----er and a sissy, not to mention a f-g. Which surprised me, since they roll around with men all day long. But I guess what I'm saying is that, mortorist and the common douchbag aren't going to change anytime soon. So we kinda have to live with immaturity and a little danger when cycling.

I have to admit that I have been the idiot in the car on one occasion. I spotted a freind of mine riding and just could not resist the urge to squirt her with my water bottle. No harm done except that her jersey got wet(ter...hot day and she sweats profusely). Now I end up wetter whenever we are on a ride together.
