Nope. I've ridden and played guitar more than twenty-five thousand miles since the early 1980s, all on the same Schwinn ten-speed. I've been playing with the same guitar for the past twenty years (since the late 1980s). The bicycle is in better shape now than it was twenty years ago. The guitar, sadly, is not, but even though the finish is bleached by the sun and worn away by my arm in places, my Strat still sings sweetly.

Since I am riding the same bicycle and playing the same guitar, obviously whatever mishaps I have had have not been serious ones. I was hurt pretty bad last year when I made the mistake of riding WITHOUT a guitar. The front wheel hit a curb or something and stopped (the rim was bent and the tire got a pinch flat). I fell over and my glasses were smashed onto my face cutting it open. I was lucky that it healed up almost invisible now, and that the only apparent damage to the bicycle was a bent support to the rear rack and the handlebar tape possibly being scraped a little. It goes to show you: riding WITHOUT a guitar is DANGEROUS! I'm not going to make THAT mistake again!

If you'll check the Roseburg, Oregon News-Review that featured me as the lead story on their front page a couple years ago, you will read that this is made possible by leprechauns running alongside me as I ride. It's in the newspaper so it MUST be true!
