You often get this. A version of the original song, proves better than the original. The wife likes that god-awful musak called Steely Dan/Donald Fagen. Dreadful mid-atlantic tripe, IMO. However, I spotted this version of IGY sung by Patti LaBelle. An improvement on the original, I think. Any one esle have suggestions for improvements on the original song?

I submit "Steely Sho-Dan" for your consideration. It's more of a mid-Pacific take on mid-Atlantic tripe. I looked around for maybe a Disturbed or Mudvayne version, but sadly all I found were a bunch of other people who still sounded like Steely Dan. |

my pops was a lead singer/lead guitarist of a pretty famous local band when we were overseas, a very, very long time ago and covered all and any songs any of you can come up with...if it involves music that incurs the origins of the gospel of true music, older and kind music. the gene was passed on so i guess the main point i am trying to make is that someimes, only sometimes, a cover can be better than the original, like when my pops sung them. he was a bad ass, no question about it. and like this song: but i am biased as the talent is raw and natural in me. my fify cent. not generally something i'd agree to, thinking that more often than not, the original tends to take top honours, but... annie lennox covering one of my favourite bob marley songs, "waiting in vain." it's her voice, and her looks. anybody fix me up with her number?

I'll take Maxi Priest's version of "Wild World" over the original, any day and everyday...although I do like the original as well... Continued...It's almost a toss-up for me between New Order and Orgy on "Blue Monday" - Orgy is close, but I gotta go with the original... Oh yeah, LOVE ME SOME Steely Dan! "Peg" - that song is off the charts for me... Last edited by tonyzackery; 09-01.-2009 at 05:55 PM. |
