We are considering a self contained tour from Miami to Key West. Couple of days down and back. Anyone ever done such a thing? Pedaling in Miami traffic? I've heard that south Miami has a crime issue. True? Probably assemble the tandem in the airport, store the cases somewhere, and hit the road. Any input/advice appreciated. Thx, Switchbox104 |

south miami crime just like any other city, don't let the media scare you. I would be more concerned about the traffic. And especially around the airport. I've heard of a ride from Miami to keywest that is done every year but i can't remeber what time of year it's done. If i find out I'll post it for you |

Hiya. Sorry this is so late in being written, but I just became a member. Anyway, I do not have info about biking from the airport, but I can tell you that there are buses that go from the airport to Key Largo, where it is recommended to start a bike tour of the keys. My wife and I have been looking into this exact trip, and plan on doing it sometime in the near future. Biking through the keys is actually very easy. For much of the trip there is a paved trail. The only exceptions to this are on the bridges, where there is a shoulder for bikes, and in some of the "cities", where there are sidewalks. - Scott |
