Default Can I put a basket on my Townie, or will the gear lines get in the way?

Hello, this is my first post. I did a search and did not find this question asked before, but forgive me if I have overlooked it.

I really want to get a wire basket for my Townie 21 speed, but the ones I've seen on Electra's website do not specifically say they are compatible with the Townie. Is there a metal basket by Electra that will work?
