The Ghisallo, Ti will last forever. Plus the silver 'nude' just rocks. Been thinking of a Litespeed myself, perhaps a Ghisallo, perhaps another. No rush dreaming until my current racer/trainer dies. Have you looked at seven's?

Seven's? meaning seven-sixteen's? Not really. What do you think about those?

What do you feel makes it so "WOW", the C50?

Well some people do prefer the Campy Record components for one, the other is that Colnago's C50 handles and responds incredibly.

Again at that price range most of the bikes are fantastic and the difference between their respective "worth" is negligble.

Your consideration may come down to what lasts longer and who stands behind their frames. Trek offers a lifetime warranty. That speaks volumes. Colnago is also has a good track record when it comes to longevity ( up to 5 years I mean) I try not to keep a bike after that long.

Bikes like the Litespeed Ghisallo or the Scott Team Issue that are super light (around 2-3 pounds lighter than the Colnago and Trek are good for about 3000 miles and then after that they can become suspect.

Again Trek and Colnago both have better longevity in their frames.

For that kind of money you really ought to consider custom frames such as a Seven or Calfee if you want carbon. You can really tailor the type of ride you want out of a frame. I have tried all three and I can tell you that the Ghisallo is really made for a really light rider (I am 180 and when out of the saddle, I felt alot of flex in the bottom bracket...terrible), the Colnago is really sweet, stable solid and fo the money the 5900 is also a very smooth ride. But remember, ride and comfort is also alot about fit..and nothing will fit you better than a custom bike. I had my Seven Elium built with all three bikes in mind..the light weight of the Ghisallo, the smoothness of the 5900, and the stiffness of the Colnago...you really should check out custom bikes. Litespeed also does custom but its stupid expensive.

g'day,

don't even consider a 5900 in the same breath as the Ghisallo or the C50 frames. No-one ever would even think about Trek frames if some bloke called Lance didn't ride them. The only thing they have going for them (in this company) is the lifetime warranty...compare apples with apples, not apples with dog pooh!,

So what did you buy? I ride the Ghisallo and absolutely love it. I had an '02 5500 from TREK. Nice bike yes, but it couldn't touch the Ghisallo.

Post some pics.

my recommendation, the c50. look at gvhbikes.com current inventory and see if your size (you do know what size colnago fits if you look up the colnago detailed geometry charts) is in stock. prices here are less than you can get at any price controlled bike shop.

I know the major differences, i.e. material, but I am unable to find a LBS that I can test ride each. In hind sight, I am asking everyones opinion, preferably those who own or have riddent any before.

Thanks in advance,

I own both a Ghisallo and a C50. They're radically different bikes. The C50 is a genuine road racer with proper stiffness and geometry for racing. The Ghisallo on the other hand is fundamently usefull for long training rides, especially involving climbing. I think it's too flexy and twitchy for proper racing (Litespeed doesn't recommend it as a racing bike). In so many words, you'll have to decide what you want the bike for.
As far as "lasting forever", etc., both bikes are very well built and will last for years. Of course, nothing lasts forever, and both bikes themselves have undergone revisions by their respective manufacturers. Bought correctly they'll both retain value for a while.
However, over a longer period both will become obsolete.
Of the Trek I know nothing.
