I wear tights or leg warmers with Bib shorts. My leg warmers are warmer then my tights as they are very cheap light weight tights. I am planning on buying some wind stopper bib tights. Not sure what brands yet but they have thicker wind resistant material in front and thinner breathable material on the back. I wear a thin band around my ears to keep the wind off them, can't stand it if my ears get cold.

From a fellow Coloradoan. This is how I manage. Not saying it's the best way to go but it works for me. For temps 45-60 degrees I go with leg warmers. Anything less then 45 I switch to tights (no chamois) over shorts. I picked up a pair of Sugoi Midzero tights and highly recommend them (sold at REI). Hope this helps, James |

I've even got 3 different types tights for micro-management of different weater aspects...semi-cold...cold....really cold ![]() Facemasks mostly used for longer endurance rides, where I don't have a great need for getting air really fast into my lungs during heavy intervals |

I just do leg warmers, and focus more on protecting my feet, torso and hands from the cold. Its been good enough for me to wear a base layer, normal summer jersey and bibs, arm and leg warmers and throw a jacket over that. For feet, I just pulled the linings out of some old boots and cut them down as needed so the shoes fit right in there and the cleats out the bottom. I then put lycra booties stretched over that and no one is the wiser. Sometimes I wear my cycling cap or a knit cap under the helmet, and sometimes winter gloves, depending on the temp. Very cost effective, since the same jacket or the odd arm or leg warmer works well in early spring too. Things is, we're talking 40's on up (though lots of wind sometimes, and the occasional high 30's) since I was on the NE coast with the above solution. I tend to pass on the sub-40 degree weather and hit the trainer. Riding in that would probably take some more thinking - tights certainly - tights without chamois right over the bibs sounds best to me too. Last edited by graf zeppelin; 01-01.-2005 at 12:44 PM. |

), does this option work well or do the tights spend the majority of ones' ride sliding down ones' bum? What's everyone else do?
