Some people are ok with aluminum, some aren't. You have to decide which you are.

10 years ago I was a chomoly steel kind of guy. Today I'm an aluminum kind of guy. 10 years from now I'll probably be a carbon fiber kind of guy. Does that help?

thanks, now I have a crank of Truvativ Rouleur(39,53) and a cole wheels building. I tend to buy GIANT OCR frame with a carbon fork and Ultegra 9 speeds parts(STI etc..).

I have both the TCR aluminum, built with campy chorus stuff, and the TCR carbon bike built with the new dura ace stuff. I would have to say that the choice depends on how much riding you do. I just did 85 miles yesterday with over a mile of climbing, and i have to say that the aluminum bike beat me up. I really was feeling it in my arms and shoulders. On shorter rides i can't tell the difference between the two, but over about 50 miles i just feel better riding the carbon bike, so comfort is nicer, but i do not realize the softening of the road that most people talk about with carbon. It seems to be a cumulative thing for me, and even though i can't feel the aluminum beating me up it is, and that adds up over a long ride.
