Default Fixing an old Peugeot PY-10

Thanks for looking at my post! I'm new to the forum and wanted to say a little bit about myself. I've been a mountain biker for years and I just picked up an old Peugeot PY-10 road bike. I want to get it back in good working order and use it for local rides this coming summer to see if I want to get into road biking. I'm looking for some parts to complete the bike.

Basically, this bike is decently original. Frame is lugged Reynolds 531 tubing, Stronglight crank, Atac stem, Mafac "racer" brakes, Simplex derailers and shifters. Non-original parts on it are an updated sealed bottom bracket, Matrix Titan S 700C wheels with Shimano hubs and 7-speed gearing, IRC tires, Bridgestone XO-3 fork with mangled threads and mounts for V-brakes.

I'm looking for a decent front fork (one without V-brake mounts, prefer original Peugeot fork), brake pads and caged pedals. Please email me with any recommendations or leads. I'm trying to keep my total investment low as this is such an old bike.

If you know of a source for replacement components for this bike or other problem areas I should look out for, please post or email me. Thanks!

Sheldon Brown at www.harriscyclery.com has an article on old french bikes and some of the problem areas. I'd have started with something else.Especially since that POS has a mismatched fork.Good luck on finding an original.
