Default Busted back wheel, need a cheap replacement

I have this bike http://www2.trekbikes.com/Bikes/2006...path/7000.html the trek 7000 which I bought about a year ago. I have been riding it more and more in the last few months, and do about 350 miles a month on it. A few months ago I came off a curb hard and my back wheel got a little buckled. I kept riding it and it seemed to be fine, it just rubbed the brake pad a little. Today in the middle of my ride I heard a big pop and 4 or 5 of the spokes had broken and the wheel was bent all to hell.

I think all of the parts that connect to the wheel are fine, but I do need a new rim. Can anyone recommend me a cheap, durable rim/wheel or a place I could look for them online? I am planning on buying a road bike soon and dont want to spend too much on this one, but it will remain my commuter bike. That being said I dont want to buy another rim only to have it fail again...

For a low-cost wheel, your local shop is the place to go. You probably won't save enough online to make up the difference in the higher cost of shipping an oversized item like a wheel.

It would be cheaper at that price point to just get a whole new wheel, and a wheel of that quality should be around $40-50 or so. Getting a rebuild might cost about $30-40 for the labor + about $25-30 for a rim and about $0.50/spoke or $75-85 total.

If do want to look online for something of that level, check this company:

On line retailers I've had good luck with: Performance Bike, Bike Nashbar, Price Point, Jenson USA, and Cambria Bike. I've used them all for years. The previous posting is correct though, shipping will add quite a bit to the price. Search these sites for single wheels. There are discount coupons on some of the home pages of the stores so don't forget to look for them.
