I have a nice-ish off the peg FS XC bike, but it is just too much effort to use it for my 7 mile ride to work. Soooo - I am looking at gettin a rugged bike for commuting. I am not a fan of road bikes per se, so I am looking at a decent hybrid. I don't want a 700c, but am quite happy to have 28's. I quite like the look of the Cannondale Street / Bad Boy - and am quite intrigued by their front suspension. I want front suspension because I have a lot of speed humps, pot holes and curbs to cunch. So do I go with normal suspension forks (Fox, Rockshox, etc...) or do I go with Cannondale's Headshok? (the lefty does not appeal to me). I know if I go down the Cannondale route, I am pretty much tying myself into their parts, but for a simple road warrior / pavement (read sidewalk) hog which gives the better ride and response? The Cannondale Headshok or a more conventional fork - please name the fork you think would be best suited. ATM I am saving my pennies, so the bike I decide to go for - or have made - will come to me in time, depending on the eventual price. Once I have a few stock bikes lined up I will test em - I want this bike to last me some time. My curret bike is 7 years old and going strong .(Raleigh Max Zero-G Chromolly - Old - cost £650 when new but is good enough for what I do (except maybe commuting )) |
