The RR1850 are identical to the RR1450 except using a 1.2 rim and bladed spokes. The price is the same, if I recall. I think they would be excellent on the flat, those rims would hold speed so well. The hubs are the best you can get too.

HD these look really nice. They are a bit on the heavy side, but to me weight isn't everything with wheelsets. I'd rather have something that will last me thru the winter. Thanks for heads up. Much appreciated. Have a great weekend! Happy riding! |

Big weight increase 1450 - 1850 I respect dt wheels, but campy wheels would be far better value in my mind compared to the 1850s. 1450s are great wheels if you want a latterally stiff wheel for handling and down hill (and light to boot). |

240s hubs, RR1.2 rims, a variation of new aero and pro-lock hex nipples. (from what I know) 1450 240s hubs, RR1.1 rims, a variation of aerospeed spokes, and pro-lock hex nipples. If these are the correct (probably not exact) component lists, the 1850 gain 165g for each rim (330g) and 82g between new aero and aerospeed spokes. that is 412g but does not take into account the lesser number of spokes on the 1850, which would bring it in to around the 400g mark (even though 1450s actually weighed 1480, in which case a 370g difference) The 1850s would be an absolutely excellen wheel. Aerodynamic, stiff, reliable and they would be so fast. If you were to pit them up against the 1450s on the flat, the 1850s would tear them apart. Do not just look at weight. Don't underestimate the powers of momentum.

I have 04 zondas, before they went to the smaller rim. The 30mm rims and 16-21 spokes rip on the flats, the rear is very stiff, but I'd like a little more front end stiffness on some of the hills. I'm sure the 1850s would be typical dt quality, very fast on the flats, and stiff (not as stiff in the rear as campys). However at 1850gms they make shimano wheels look light! For the price they should be lighter. |
