Exclamation 1989 Rebuild: SPOKES, RIMS & TUBES ACQUIRED

1989 KESTREL 4000 REBUILD

UPDATE: DECMEBER 17 (in GUAM), 2006
(December 16th back in the states)

FRONT SPOKES & TUBES: After nearly buying Hoshi bladed spokes from a bike shop a long ways away from my home for over three dollars a spoke (Ouch! No lube or kiss either), I called home to Florida from Guam. The person on that end called a bike shop in NJ. NJ researched the request and came back with an answer. The answer was relayed to Florida and then to me way the heck over here in Guam. It was a simple website where I could purchase the Hoshi Spokes that I needed. They had a phone number so I called it. 12.18.06 I will Paypal them.

RIMS: I know I have stated in past posts that I still need one more Mavic Open 4 CD rim. I managed to get two 32-hole rims for the cost of just over ½ of one rim.

FORK: I still need a threaded carbon 1” fork N.O.S., MINT, never ridden, never mounted.

HEADSET: CyclArt can give my old one a new look if need be as a last resort, but I am determined to find one.

PEDALS: (See headset entry)

BAR TAPE & RIM STRIPS: These are my next targets. Red Specialized Rim Strips & what was probably Cinelli Bar Tape (in White).

CHAIN: Easy enough acquire when I am home in February.

BIKE COMPUTER: I will order this on or around January 2nd – That is my “one month to go” here in Guam milestone. This way it will be home when I arrive 02.02.07.

See the entire list of parts heading to the rebuild here:

Stay tuned for more updates to come... Thanks to all who have helped along the way.

THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ MY POSTING.
Take care & be safe!

Sincerely,
CJ - Palm Harbor, Florida
