Default Ridley frames - long head tubes?? Why?

I have been looking at Ridley frames and I have noticed they tend to have longer headtubes than other bikes in similar sizes - does anybody know why this is so? Benefits etc?

The Heracles, Boreas etc have a 14.5cm headtube on the small and on the medium 17.5cm. This is according to the Ridley site.
