I have a depressingly crap monitor, so forgive me, but that should be fixed.

The GP4000 is a great tire, but I doubt that I would pay $50 for any tire. I just don't have the need to go that little bit faster... The tires came free with my wheelset. =)

I normally ride Vredestein Fortezza SE tires, which are great all-around tires and are the most puncture-resistant tires that I have ever ridden. I've never been able to go 1500+ miles without a flat. =)

Hey Bobby, if you do this kind of work with a crap monitor, you would be amazing with a good monitor. What software are you using for this? I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 and cant get a retouch that looks as good as what you did with a crap monitor.

That retouch would be easy with Photoshop... With or without a calibrated monitor...

Yeah, but how do you get the texture in the blacktop? Evertime that I erase and fill with with a sample, it just fills with a non-textured solid color. Am I trying to use the wrong retouch feature? Sorry to have turned this into a photo thread but I'm trying to learn something.

It's the 'clone stamp tool'... This allows you to select a point and clone that part of the image somewhere else. With repetitive textures (like gravel or sand or trees), it is pretty easy to make it blend in with the non-retouched areas. It gets trickier around other things (the edges of the chainrings, for example).

Slight improvement in the chainring. My photoshop skills are extremely basic.

Clone stamp and healing brush are great

im using a bontrager hardcase lite and it seems puncture resistant. I have the 700x23 and 700x25 sizes. Wire bead and a little heavy and has a hard ride (not plush). rolling resistance seems ok, better than my old continental supersport ultra.
I will be trying the continental gatorskins next (advertised as puncture resistant) as i think they will have a better ride quality.
the gp4000 isnt in my local bike shop yet, but the gp3000 is one of the most expensive tires here.

Can't wait for tomorrow's test ride!

Lightness counts when the local climbs get to 15 - 20+ percent, so here are the bikes I am riding most weekends - road and tandem.

I am guessing that is why you purchased the "lightweight" wheels.
