It is also expandable if I want to pack something to eat. Some folks have asked why I carry a spare tube and a patch kit. Sometimes I just don't feel like patching the old tube. Also, being over prepared is the most surefire way to ensure that I don't ever get a flat.
Thanks for the advise I am already carrying repair patch kit and extra tube at all times but why CO2 inflator? Why not just a frame light pump.

My two reasons for a CO2 Inflator are that there is not really a good place for a frame pump on my bike and I'm too lazy to spend all day trying to pump up a tire to 120 PSI with a small pump. Also, the CO2 Inflator with a couple of extra cartridges (on sale) was less than a good quality pump. Fortunately I have not needed to use the CO2 Inflator yet as the only flat that I have had in the past 6 years occurred at home.
