Default Mavic Ksyrium ES (Mavic you are liars)

The other day I weighed the Mavic ES wheels in LBS.
MAVIC!! STOP LYING ABUT THE WEIGHTS OF YOUR WHEELS OK!!!!!!!!
As I suspected, the Ksyrium ES without skewers come in at 1560.
My HED JET 50mm wheels are only 120g heavier. SO much for your "anniversary helium" edition wheels. You know what to do with your weight which your publish on your website and lie about constantly.
Even on weightweenies they had it down to 1529. So stop trying to con people out of their hard-earned cash. We know that 100g won't make any difference but as consumers we want what you say we pay for. Yes, maybe you are not the only brand to hyper-exagerrate the weight of your wheels but you are guilty of really taking the piss. So perhaps you could show us how you got your claimed weight on one of your factory built ES models. Did you remove a few spokes or maye sheer of some metal??? What do trading standards say about the way companies, like Mavic, lie about weight??
Mavic website should read: ES wheels: 1550g!!! Doesn't it take it closer to the Campag Zonda claimed weight???

Well, that's what happens when you don't do a little bit of research before buying: you end up with totally over priced, mediocre wheels. They are great marketing successes, though.

For what it's worth:
  1. Did Mavic claim the weight included skewers?
  2. Their weight is only 4.81% over claimed, which is more than acceptable by most any standard. The weight of the wheels easily changes over the tool life of the dies used to extrude the rims, as the dies wear.

Get a tissue, wipe away the tears, and get over it. No one made you buy those wheels.

Did I say I bought the wheels???
Did I say I was crying??
DId you not read my profile on what I ride???
The point is that people spend money based on how heavy wheels are (or light that is). Wake up Alienator and read between the lines.

No manufacturer in their right minds incls weight of the skewers as a lot of people put on lighter ones. Campy ones are traditionally pretty heavy.

Nah, I gotta admit I'm less than interested in your profile.

People spend money for all sorts of reasons, only one of which might be weight. If people can't be bothered to do a bit of research, that's not my problem: it's theirs.

What, pray tell, lines am I supposed to be reading between, Princess? Because your point--if that's what it is--has been widely known to be true of lots of manufacturers. So what? Alas, as I said, the weight was only 4.81% off, and that's acceptable by most standards. Just because you don't understand how things are actually made, how specs might vary in a production run, and etc.....well, we can't help your poor level of education.

If that's the standard for being called a liar, then I suspect just about every company out there are the same.

You weighed them?!?!?!! You weren't supposed to weigh them. You were supposed to buy them and then brag to everyone about how light they were, and if they didn't beleive you they could look it up on the website!

I think the OP forgot to wash all the mud and crap off the LBS wheelset to get that horrific weight result. Or the LBS just over greased the hub!

If it was down to normal production variances, wouldn't one expect that as often as not the weight is under the manufacturers marketing promise, rather than just over? Is that your experience? Certainly not what i have seen, but then again, I probably don't understand how things are actually made (no seriously, I really don't)

Alientator, I can see where you are coming from now. Just cos you are a Phd student, you think that everyone else has a poor level of education. Your poor and desparate attempts at flaming normal users of this forum are pointless, flawed and very, very sad. Come over here and ride with us in the pyrenees or the Catalan hills. Can you ride??? OR do you just flame people o forums or maybe just brag on being a phd student??

Most manufacturers tell fibs about claimed weight, and Alienator is right - +/- 5% in weight is well within the limits of acceptability.

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve by attacking people who agree with you.
