I need some advice on a new wheelset. I currently ride with a Mavic Open Pro 32 with a PowerTap SL and a Bontrager Race X-Lite front. I am looking for a set for racing. I am 145 lbs. I am a decent climber and I am looking for a wheel that spins up well but also is fairly aero. I thought about more aero wheels to help me on the flats, but I don't want something so heavy that it is not a good climbing wheel. Is it possible to have the best of both worlds? I do not want to sacrifice my Power-Tap so I am looking for a rear wheel with a Power-Tap. One scenario I have considered is a Zipp or FlashPoint 404 rear with a 303 front. I have heard that the Zipps may not be reliable. I have no experience with Zipps, so I do not know. I have no preference on Brands. Also, I would like to stay with clinchers if possible. The reason is simply because I have no experience with tubulars and I am told the process for changing them can be time-consuming and difficult. Thank you, as always, for all your advice. JB |

This topic is covered pretty often in the Power Training forum. I would recommend trying a search over there, but here is a recent thread for example: http://www.cyclingforums.com/t433398.html Good luck! Last edited by chainstay; 12-03.-2007 at 07:10 PM. |
