Lately I have been seeing bicycles that look like they are performance road bikes but are being pushed as "Triathalon Bikes". Is there really a difference or is this just a marketing ploy? What, if anything, makes a triathalon bike different from a performance road bike?

Geometry If it a full aero bar bike it really should have a much steeper seat angle, and different head tube setup to maintain stability. If it short course/olympic distance those guys tend to ride fairly standard road bikes and equipment, but set the saddles up differently to raod cyclists so they use different leg muscle groups to make it easier to get off the bike and run.
