What's the murder rate of the US compared to Britain or Australia, or for that matter...any other country in the developed world?

These statistics are based upon surveys done by the US Coalition to Stop the Proliferation of Handguns.

As for "What if you had an argument with an arsehole driver who cut you up, would you pull out your glock and start blapping him in his face?", I am assuming that you mean "cut you off" in American English. If not, I would have blown away that sucker as soon as he pulled his knife or razor.

And as for your football hooligans, a bat can kill you as dead as a bullet!
So how are you going to kill the driver who cut you off?
Are you going to try and draw the weapon while you are riding and fire one handed?
Or will you come to a halt, draw the weapon and try to kill the driver while he drives away from you?
And why do you think the driver isn't going to exercise his right to self defence when you pull a gun...and simply drive over you and your bike?

That's the problem. Assholes will think those thoughts, but assholes will be carrying an a illegal gun or will use somethimg else to get revenge.

When two assholes meet there is trouble. If one of them is not an asshole trouble is usually averted.

Good thing there are more non-assholes than assholes, for now anyway.

Don't you recognize a joke when you see one? I was pointing out what to me was a comical difference between Aussie and US terminology. In the US, "cut you up" means that someone is intending to cause you bodily harm and I would do anything that I could to prevent that from happening to me. I don't ride with a gun and the only guns that I currently own are a Tower Flintlock Pistol (terribly inaccurate and someone could kick me to death in the time it takes to reload) and a BB/Pellet Gun (might be good if you could shoot the guy in the eye). I will have a 9mm Beretta in a couple of months. I do believe in a person's right to own a gun within the local laws where they live, and I do not believe that someone exercizing that right should be denigrated by people in other countries that do not afford them the same right.

There are a couple police officers (actually they're RCMP aka mounties up here in Canada) I bike race with that don't even carry when they're out on training rides...

Feeling safe and secure is a state of mind that is not acquired by carrying a gun and knowing you can kill someone if the need arises...

I'm curious why you ask so here's my answer - I don't carry a gun, none the less I am proficient in the art of precision and speed shooting. If carrying was to be legalised here I would then address the problem of what sort of gun or knife or stick to carry and consider the responsibilities that my choice will impose on me.

If I had a criminal record and was irresponsible, wtf I'd already be carrying something right now. I would be on parole and out there on my stolen bike using it for getting booty and revenge an stuff from all those willing unarmed victims!

So how many times have you been killed by armed criminals while riding your bike?

easy with the pics, whats the point your trying to make? Everyone knows the US is the most socially messed up of all the western democratic nations, although most would agree with me America is not at all a democratic country. As soon as I drive across the border into the US the roads instantly are bad, urban decay is very evident, and you just know 1 in 5 people around you got a gun on them because thats the only thing that makes them feel safe. I was in Detroit 2 weeks ago and I honestly felt safer when I was in Rio!

Presumably, your house has not burned down, but you still keep a fire extiguisher close at hand...if you have half a brain.

No, I'm not taking bets on that proposition.

you clearly are an idiot to draw similarities between people carrying guns and having an extinguisher handy in the house. and you ask if I have half a brain lol too funny.

you clearly are an idiot to draw similarities between people carrying guns and having an extinguisher handy in the house.

And you are clearly a moron for not seeing the similarity in protection that both provide.

Enjoy Toronto's rising crime rate.
