Recently I was having punctured average about once a week during the long distance ride on the weekend. It lasted about a month countinuesly.I discovered that few times that the tire will go burst after coming up from a missed spotted potholes. It really disturbed my confidence to train myself from going hard than to stay there when thinked about those fuking punctured.Do you guys do face the same problem??Some of my friends told me that I should change my tire to a kind which own more beads so it will reduce punctured than using my continental ultra race into long distance and my LBS told me that those 700c tubes cant take on high impact of bump that explain the constant burst. But I ride exactly the same style but my tube lasted for long time before it burst for the 2 years.Do you guys think that is necessarily or is it just because of the pure luck???Would appreciate your experience on encountering the problem.

If your tires (clinchers) are low on air you'll be more likely to have pinch flats when you hit potholes. If pinch flats are common you might try a larger sized tire such as a 25mm or even 28mm if your roads are very bad and potholes are frequent. It does not sound as though you are having trouble with thorns, glass, road debris or spoke heads causing flats. So the normal advice to replace your rim strip or switching to anti-puncture tires does not sound like it will help. If your most common flats are pinch flats and you get the characteristic "snake bite" double holes in your tubes then I'd first get in the habit of checking your tire pressure before riding and secondly think about larger volume tires. And maybe pay more attention to what's coming up the road and avoid the potholes if possible. Good luck, -Dave |

Sometimes, flats are the result of bad luck. A few years ago, between my clinchers and tubies, I had 10 flats in less than two weeks. Some were from goatheads, some from wire, but all were from things that were nearly impossible to see on the road. It could be that you live in an area that has a ****load of junk on the roads, in which case about all you can do is be diligent about scanning the road ahead for threats to tire health and to use tires that offer more flat protection. The other thing to do is to make sure you're inflating your tires to the right pressure. Overinflation makes a tire more easy to puncture. Also, clinchers are more susceptible to pinch flats, but that's easy enough to avoid by not running tires at pressures that are too low. FWIW, potholes aren't nice, in general. They can flat tubulars, too, and the bad ones can make a rim go all pear shaped. Some folks will suggest wiping your tires while riding, but there's zero that says that works. It's more likely one of the things that's a holdover from old days, so people do it 'cuz others before did it and said it worked. It's likely that by the time you get a hand on a tire to wipe it, the offending sharpy will have already worked it's way into the casing. It is a great way, though, to take your attention away from controlling the bike and being aware of what's going on. If done improperly it's also a great method for making interesting, albeit painful and possibly bloody, shapes out of your fingers.

Wow....10 flats in 2 weeks is very terrible. It doesnt make you kinda started thinking to ride without a tire anymore or sumfing like that??And yes I am currently using 700cX25 and always pumped high pressure into it before going anywhere. Before this I am using WTB amino. The tire is not expansive but it is very durable and doesnt meet flat like this. Then I bought a pair of continental ultra race and kenda c2c.Oh man it is very good.On punctured.Should I change a pair of tyres??Or countinue to observe if it does punctured again??
